The original AeroPress is the brewer that quietly solved more home coffee problems than any device under $50 has any right to. Three brews in one, immersion, pressure, and filter, in roughly a minute. It travels well, brews single cups well, and forgives a wide range of grind sizes, which is why it's the device most coffee professionals keep at home or in a backpack.
Why it works
- Hybrid brew method. Steeps like a French press, presses through paper like a drip, finishes with light pressure, which is closer to espresso than any non-electric brewer in this price range.
- One to three cups per brew, about a minute total. Faster than a pour-over, cleaner than a French press, more flavor clarity than a drip machine.
- Forgiving grind range. Fine like espresso through medium-coarse like drip, all of it works. The recipe flex is what makes the AeroPress championships a thing.
- Travels anywhere. Lightweight, durable BPA- and phthalate-free plastic. Fits in a backpack or carry-on. Brews on a hotel desk with a kettle.

Setup and care notes
Rinse with water and pop apart for cleaning, the puck pushes out cleanly with a plunge over the trash. Paper filters last for years if stored dry, or swap to a stainless reusable filter (sold separately) to skip paper entirely.
Who it's for, who it isn't
Right for the brewer who wants one device that handles morning coffee, travel, and recipe experimentation, all for under $50. Not the right pick if you want a true espresso shot, the AeroPress finishes with about 0.75 to 1 bar of pressure, while real espresso is 9. For espresso, see our home espresso machines.
