The Ascaso Steel DUO PLUS is a dual thermoblock home espresso machine built for the household that pulls more than one drink at a time. Steam milk for a cappuccino on the left, pull a shot for the second cup on the right, all without waiting for one circuit to recover before the next drink starts. Made in Barcelona by a sixty-year espresso specialist, it lands in the serious-home-barista bracket without taking up commercial counter space.

Why it works

• Two thermoblocks, not one. Independent boilers for brew and steam mean simultaneous operation, which is the difference between back-to-back drinks and a four-minute interval between each cappuccino.
• PID temperature control in one-degree increments. Dial in the exact brew temperature for the bean you're using; a light roast at 200°F behaves differently than a dark roast at 195°F, and the DUO PLUS gives you that resolution.
• Real 58mm commercial portafilter. Walnut handles, bottomless and non-pressurized baskets included, plus a stainless tamper. No "we'll ship you the rest later" boxes.
• Pre-infusion and volumetric programming. Set single, double, and pre-infusion times once and the machine repeats them. Useful when more than one person in the house is making drinks.

Setup and care notes

Plan the location around the plug. The DUO PLUS pulls 2100W and ships with a NEMA 5-20 plug on a 20-amp circuit; the adapter handles standard 15-amp household outlets, but a dedicated 20-amp outlet is the cleaner long-term answer if you're running it daily. Warm-up takes about three and a half minutes, so most owners flip it on at the same time they start the grinder.
