Sette 30 Coffee Grinder

The Sette 30 is the entry to Baratza's Sette line, which solves a problem most grinders pretend doesn't exist, retention. The vertical grind path drops grounds straight into the portafilter from the burr, so almost no coffee gets stuck inside the grinder between doses. For single-dose espresso brewers chasing freshness, that matters.

Why it works

• Vertical grind path, near-zero retention. What you put in is what comes out. Switch coffees mid-day, no purge needed.
• S1 conical steel burr from the Sette 270. Same 40mm cutting set as the 270, just with macro-only adjustment.
• 200W high-torque DC motor. Grinds an espresso dose in 5 to 6 seconds, twice as fast as a typical home grinder.
• 31 macro adjustment steps. Coarse to fine espresso, no micro adjustment. Trade-off you take for the price.
• Hopper bean shutoff. Twist the hopper, swap coffees, lock back in.

Setup and care notes

The Sette is the loudest grinder Baratza makes. That's the cost of the high-torque motor and the open vertical path. Mount on a silicone pad if your kitchen echoes. Burrs are user-removable, no tools.

Who it's for, who it isn't

Right for single-dose espresso brewers who switch beans often and want freshness over micro-adjustment finesse. Not the right pick if you want stepless or micro-step dial-in, in which case the Sette 270 or 270Wi is the upgrade path.
